Holiday sewing projects and patterns

Fleece Throw

This holiday fleece throw is perfect for fireside cuddling. Make one to keep and one to give!

Materials

  • 3 yds berry fleece
  • 1 yd sage fleece
  • 1/2 yd loden fleece
  • 1/8 yd ivory fleece
  • 3 skeins ivory pearl cotton
  • Patterns

Directions

  1. Cut two 48"x54" pieces of berry fleece.
  2. Enlarge tree template 800% and cut from sage fleece.
  3. With pearl cotton, blanket stitch tree to berry fleece.
  4. Enlarge scroll template 200% and cut four scrolls from loden fleece. Stitch to tree.
  5. Cut balls from ivory and berry fleece. Blanket stitch to tree.
  6. To make fringe, cut top and bottom edges of berry fleece. Cut 7" into fleece at ½" intervals. (Repeat for backing). Knot several pieces of fringe together, including front and back.
  7. Blanket stitch with pearl cotton around side edges of throw. (See blanket stitching instructions below.)

Blanket Stitching Instructions

Bring the needle up through the fabric at A. Insert at B & come up at C in a single motion, keeping the thread under the tip of the needle.

Pull the needle through the fabric. Continue making vertical stitches in this manner.

To finish a row of stitches, take a tiny stitch over the last stitch.
