About SCA

The SEW-lutions blog at sewing.org is brought to you by the Sewing & Craft Alliance (SCA). The SCA is a joint venture between entrepreneurial sisters, Joyce Perhac of ProShow, Inc. (and former Executive Director of the Home Sewing Association) and Janice Blasko of The Abbey Group (former webmaster of www.sewing.org)

The goal of the SCA is provide educational information and creative resources to the sewing and crafting enthusiast. The SCA also offers opportunities for retailers and businesses in the sewing, quilting, crafting or textile industries to showcase their products and services to the creative community through advertising, sponsorships and promotions. In addition, the SCA provides a resource for press and media information on the industry.

Site visitors to SCA’s www.sewing.org can take advantage of the library of free projects and articles from 15 unique categories or download any of the free SEW-lutions Guidelines educational articles. The one- and two-page Guidelines cover all aspects of sewing, from beginner level information to advanced sewing techniques. In addition, enthusiasts may visit the SEW-lutions blog featuring industry veteran Linda Griepentrog to keep abreast of industry information, project ideas, tips and more.

SCA also produces the Trained Sewing Instructor program at www.trainedsewinginstructor.com to offer a one-of-a-kind 3-day business training workshop to sewing enthusiasts who are, or want to become, skilled teachers.

In addition, SCA co-sponsors National Sewing Month in conjunction with the American Sewing Guild. The National Sewing Month website at www.nationalsewingmonth.org provides free downloads of ad materials, logos and web/email banners for use by anyone wishing to promote this celebration of sewing.

The mission of the SCA is to promote the fun, relaxing and creative benefits of sewing, quiltilng, embroidery and crafting.
